    Dash In Food Stores is one of the key business units of The Wills Group Retail Marketing Division. Dash In engages in selling Fuel, Car Wash, and Convenience Store staples including prepared food and beverage. The incumbent reports directly to the Director of Retail Operations. Dash In primarily operates its stores through a Revenue Share Franchise model for store operations, with car wash and fuel operations managed through a commission structure.

     

    We are currently searching for a Retail Area Manager. This position is accountable for the effective and efficient operation of a group of Dash in Food Stores within the incumbent’s responsibility that ensures growth, implementation of strategic initiatives, best-in-class customer service, operational consistency and attractive earnings while following the Corporate Philosophy of The Wills Group, Inc. It holds the primary responsibility for developing strong relationships and the ability to influence the behaviors of corporate store employees and Dash In’s Franchisees. Communication is a key success factor as information is required to be shared up, down and across the network on a continual basis. The incumbent’s success will be measured through various metrics including sales growth, mystery shop inspections, brand standards inspections, Franchisee engagement, and customer feedback.

    Accountabilities

    • Implements operational plans based on corporate strategic initiatives that ensures a best-in-class customer experience, achieving sales increase expectations, and returns attractive earnings for incumbent’s assignment. 
    • Nurtures a culture of collaboration with Franchise owners that breeds Franchisee engagement, enthusiasm, and positive interactions. This leads to a customer-first culture in the store environments. 
    • Ensures consistent brand standards within all stores in assignment including following safe and effective food preparation, merchandising and selling. 
    • Ensures annual operating and capital budgets and goals are met, and communicates progress up-line.
    •  Provides leadership and direction to their Franchisees, as well as positively interacting with their peers and other Retail Marketing divisions to progress Dash In initiatives.
    • Conducts monthly P&L reviews with their Franchise owners, follows up on opportunity areas, and communicates plans to the Regional Sales Manager or Director of Operations through one-on-one or group sessions
    • Communicates clearly and effectively on all key Dash In progress milestones, results, and decisions to the Regional Sales Manager or Director of Operations. 
    • Makes recommendations on capital investments, site repairs and upgrades, non-routine operational issues/concerns consistent with TWGI philosophy and values. 
    • Nurtures a culture of engagement and development with corporate store managers to ensure continual professional growth of the store leadership teams.

     

    Key Job Accountabilities

    1. Ensures Operational execution on promotions, brand standards, customer service, and food/beverage protocols and procedures to achieve sales growth in support of annual growth projections.
    2. Ensures achievement of 90%+ inspection scores on POP, New Store, Product launches, and Mystery Shops.
    3. Actively manages Dash In Risk and ensures annual goals and initiatives are achieved including annual safety goals, financial audits, A/R and Damage claim management. 
    4. Accepts P&L Responsibility to include growing top line sales, managing expense lines, identifying opportunities and developing operational plans to improve financial performance. 
    5. Promotes and ensures daily operational compliance to the key Dash In metrics that include 1) In-stock, 2) Food fresh and available, 3) clean, safe, inviting environment, and 4) providing a memorable customer experience 
    6. Ensures compliance and participation with the Dash In Franchisee communication platform to achieve improved levels of Franchisee engagement, feedback, and performance.

    Required Qualifications

    • 5 years operational management experience with increasing responsibility within retail, foodservice, or hospitality industry
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Management, Hospitality or related field

    • Franchise and corporate-run retail experience desired

    • Multi-Unit Management experience a plus 

    • Ability to travel on a daily basis within a defined geographical region based on territory assignment
    • Ability to stay overnight and work varied hours when required
    • Possesses capability to think both tactically and strategically
    • Possesses basic financial/accounting capability in order to evaluate financials and lead financial discussions     
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
    • Self-starter and results oriented
