    The Accounting Department is currently in search for an Accounting Manager. The Accounting Department provides services to The Wills Group, Inc. and its subsidiary corporations.  The Accounting Manager reports directly to the Controller in the performance and evaluation of duties.  This position is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. The incumbent is to be knowledgeable with the duties of each subordinate position in order to maximize the effectiveness of the position. 


    This position is accountable for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation, and the support of budget and forecast activities. Incremental to the responsibilities, the Accounting Manager will have contact with different stakeholders which requires strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.


    On a day to day basis, the Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. As part of the management team, the Accounting Manager has the unique opportunity within a dynamic environment to shape the organization’s solutions and direction. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Accounting Manager recommends changes in established policies and procedures which improves the work flow to the Controller.  In the absence of the Controller, the incumbent assumes the responsibility for the orderly operations of the Accounting Department.


    This position supervises and assists with the reconciliation of all general ledger accounts, assists operations interpretation of accounting data, and performs the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. The incumbent must demonstrate strong interpersonal and oral communication skills to deliver a high standard of service and professionalism throughout the organization.


    The incumbent must possess a management philosophy that is innovative, solutions-oriented, flexible and efficient. The Accounting Manager directs and gives guidance to subordinate personnel to ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures.   The incumbent is responsible for staff performance evaluations, personnel issues, training, development, and establishment of goals and objectives.


    • Supervises, assigns, reviews, and participates, daily, in the work of Accounting personnel responsible for professional and clerical accounting activities including A/P, A/R, collections, cost accounting, payroll, inventory, general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, and budget preparation to assure proficiency, timeliness, professional atmosphere and coordination. 
    • Assist the Controller in the daily banking requirements, ensure the accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions, and ensure the monthly, quarterly, and annual cash projection activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Ensures timely and accurate completion of monthly reconciliations of accounts.
    • Ensures timely preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and work with outside CPA firm for audit purposes. 
    • Research best practices and collaborate with stakeholders to streamline procedures while meeting compliance requirements. Identify areas of cost control, revenue and margin generation to help improve bottom line performance. Develop and lead implementation of process improvements related to various accounting functions.
    • Provide guidance and direction for development of all assigned employees to improve the overall professionalism of the department and the support provided to operations. Ensure alignment of team to the Company’s mission, goals, and objectives and monitor team’s progress to enhance professional development of staff.
    • Perform various ongoing and special ad hoc operational and accounting reports and other duties as assigned. 

    Required Qualifications

    • BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting. Master’s degree in Accounting or CPA is preferred.
    • A minimum of five years of general ledger and full cycle accounting experience is required. 
    • Research, analytical skills, and a strong knowledge of financial reporting are essential to fulfil the duties of this position.
    • Technical use of Excel at a high level is required.
    • A minimum of three years supervisory experience in the financial reporting/general ledger area is preferred.
